The Switch 10 Acer includes many
elements found in the last 8 and 10 inch tablet with Windows 8. Here is an
Intel Atom processor with 2GB of RAM and a SSD of 32 or 64 GB.. Once Windows 8
installed, it hardly still has room for anything else. The Switch 10 provides a
solid feel that contrasts with many Windows entry-level devices. But its design
is a bit massive. A slightly tapered shape would make it appear a little
thinner. Like almost all systems two-in-one, the proposed solution is a base
with a keyboard and a touchpad. In this case, there is also a USB 2.0 port.
This is the tablet screen that welcomes all components. Processor, memory
(RAM), SSD, motherboard, are all located behind the screen of 10.1 inches
diagonally, which makes it heavier than the base. When you are on a laptop
operating mode classic, the Acer Switch 10 tends to easily swing back. One
thing that is common with these hybrid machines, but the imbalance is
particularly sensitive here. This is the approach to connect the two halves of
the device really sets the switch 10 from its competitors. Some hybrid use
folding hinges in the style of Yoga Lenovo model, now the base and permanently
connected screen, and are generally well designed.
But you are still limited by an
inseparable system with a keyboard behind a shelf. Other solutions use physical
attachment systems to release the latch that holds the two parts together.
These models are sometimes very ergonomic to use, with large release buttons
unsightly and difficult to use correctly. The switch 10 uses a magnetic system
which connects two pins on the upper part of the hinge, key block with two
openings on the lower edge of the tablet's screen. A small strip between these
pins ensures the electrical connection between the keyboard and the screen.
Unlike some hybrid using a Bluetooth connection, the screen and the dock need
to be physically connected to work together.
